 Presentation on Networking

My presentation, on Friday 21 May 2010 to the OIVAC (Online International Virtual Assistant Convention) went well.  There were Virtual Assistants from Canada, United States, Australia, South Africa and of course the United Kingdom.

My Presentation was called Networking – Scatter or Cultivate for Virtual Assistants gave details on how a Virtual Assistant should network and what the unwritten rules and regulations are.  I gave tips on creating your 60 seconds or Elevator Pitch, how to create and give your Business Cards, the importance of follow ups and the 1-2-1 after the meetings. There was also tips on dress codes and language.

You can get a copy of the presentation in our Free Stuff on this website, a copy of the notes booklet and in time an audio of the presentation.

myPA welcomes a new Virtual Assistant to the team
It gives me great pleasure to announce that we have a new member of staff at myPA, Amanda Wilson.

Amanda has taken over from Laura Haynes who decided that she needed to spend more time on a private project.  All at myPA would like to take this opportunity to wish Laura all the best and know that she will be fantastic with her new project.

Amanda has been working locally for over two and a half years and joins myPA to put more order into our lives.  Her administrative skills are second to none and her attention to detail is incredible. Amanda has worked in recruitment in the past and is looking forward to becoming a Virtual Assistant with myPA.

myPA Virtual Assistants 'Gift of Time'

myPA launches “The Gift of Time”

Research published  by Barclays in 2006 revealed that the owners of small to medium businesses in the UK put in significantly more hours than the average UK worker. It revealed that entrepreneurs on average spend over 15 hours per week on administration, which equates to almost two full days of the average workers week. For many, time taken to fulfil the administrative tasks results in less time invested in business development. Around 1 in 10 small businesses undertake no business development activities.
Barriers to reducing the business owner’s working week are cited as:

  • a desire to retain control  (51 per cent)
  • lack of anyone else able to undertake the task (67 per cent).

In response to these startling figures, myPA offers “The Gift of Time”. Our certificate provides blocks of hours of Virtual Assistant services, ideal for the small business without the desire, or possibly premises to directly employ staff. The virtual Assistant solution provides administrative support only when a client needs it, and only for the tasks chosen by the client. Experienced Virtual Assistants will undertake tasks which the entrepreneur does not wish to, freeing the entrepreneur to undertake more valuable activities. VA work principally from the myPA central offices, relieving clients of the burden of providing additional office space. The Barclays research indicates that six out of ten entrepreneurs feel that regulation is a barrier to doing business. VPA can deal with much of the regulatory red tape (such as accounting, health and safety, payroll) that prevents the entrepreneur from spending time on other priorities. It is also worth noting that a priority may be increased leisure time – 72 per cent of business owners said that it would be the way in which they would choose to spend an extra hour a day created by changing the way they worked. Using VPA services is a way of working smarter, not harder.

The Gift of Time makes an excellent gift for the overstretched entrepreneur, a great corporate gift, or just a way to reward yourself. Blocks of 5, 10, 15 or 20 are available, and further information can be obtained from info@mypabusiness.com

 myPA Success Story

myPA are thrilled to announce that another one of our clients has worked its way through ‘The myPA Solution’ (see below). We believe that most, if not all of your administrative services can be outsourced to a professional Virtual Personal Assistant (VPA), and this particular client is certainly proof of that.

Almost three years ago we started to assist this young but growing business with some aspects of their administration. Initially just undertaking a few telephone calls and some database maintenance together with some internet research. Within a few months we had also taken on much of their customer services, which included answering the telephone in their company name and dealing with clients, suppliers and internal staff. We also undertook a series of customer surveys and then started on their credit control.

Within the last few months this client has taken the enormous step of taking on their first employee.

myPA has been there all the way, guiding them though the recruitment process, assisting with the interview process and then being there while the new employee found her feet and undertook her training. We were there to make sure the business continued to work to the full extent until she was able to take on the full duties that are involved in this position.

What is even better news for myPA, is that we are still on hand to pick up any additional work that may be needed due to this fast grown company expanding into Europe.

 Repatriation

This is not a business news story but its going to be my way to support our soldiers who are giving their lives for us.  This note is from the Faringdon British Legion.

On Thursday 24 June 2010 members of Faringdon British Legion welcomed the support of town members at the Folly Hill Lay-by on the A420 (Swindon to Oxford Road, east of Stanford Road Roundabout) for the Repatriation of:

Kingsman Ponipate Tagitaginimoc (29) and Corporal Taniela Rogoiruwai (32) both from Fiji serving for the Duke of Lancaster Ret 1st Batt. and Trooper Ashley David Smith (18) from York from the Royal Dragoon Guards. These brave men were killed in Action on the 15 and 18 June respectively.

If you are able to attend please do, unfortunately due to work commitments I am unable to attend but hope that this small note will honour these brave shoulders so that we don't forget them or their names.  Our thoughts are with all three families.

Thank you all.
